Gatlinburg Bound
03:56
|
|||
The second hand has become my enemy
As I stare out of this window into the city.
Every tick I grow tired of the same crowd,
The same sounds, the same old scene downtown.
Getting tired of heading back home
And running into 10,000 people that I know.
Saying hey how have you been?
Where you workin? Where you livin?
It's good to see you again.
I need to be
Gatlinburg Bound
Living in the mountains surrounded by the clouds
Gatlinburg Bound
Away from this city that's clearly not for me.
Days seem to go the same way, wake up,
Get up, work long, too long,
Same nightly routine and back to sleep.
I don't even get appreciated or noticed
Because here we're all the same it appears.
No one ever stands out, were easily replaced.
If I don't move now, if I can't get out,
I'll just fade away
I need to be
Gatlinburg Bound
Living in the mountains surrounded by the clouds
Gatlinburg Bound
Away from this city that's clearly not for me.

How It Happens
04:23
|
|||
Isn't it funny how three stars can mean so much?
Made me into a better man that's for sure
Nothin' more pure than the sound of quick strum
Problems just seem to wait behind a guitar
How many times have I had to start again?
Too many times that I guess I just lost count
Funny how two halves used to be one soul
Now I know nothin' about you at all
And I know
Where I'm supposed to be
And I feel
Taken by the times
And Im told
That Ill be alright
Well, that's news to me
Isn't funny how one beer can lead to two?
And three had led to me meeting you
Open a door from within & get some help
November's end just aint quite the same anymore
Look how miles & miles just seem to break
Where the horses run is where she stays
Funny how we got so scared when we heard the train
Now when it comes I dont like both ways

Windows
03:54
|
|||
Close your eyes
And take a drink
A passionate kiss & a heartfelt wink
Misplaced dreams
An unreal life
Things can change with a son & a wife
See the world
Through broken glass
Believe in me is all that I ask
Windows close
With a part of your soul
Old men die
Living under gray skies
Jump with me
And break me down
We all host our own Ghost Town
Complacency
And apathy
Is this all some strange fantasy?
Explore the worlds
Of ancient times
Write a poem without any rhymes

Brother
05:55
|
|||
Take me home, take me home
to where we grew
Where I became a man; and so did you
From the sound of old cartoons
To those lazy autumn afternoons
We’ve shared highs
We’ve had lows
Sometimes we had to improvise
And told each other white lies
Taking pride in all things you
You believed in me so I started to too
Brother, Oh Brother
You reap the seeds you sow
Brother, Oh Brother
A long, long time ago
You showed me what to be; you knew what I could be
Brother, Oh Brother
Half of you is all of me
Half of you is all of me
Write it down; write it down
To where we grew
Where I become a man & so did you
The strength you show me
And brother, you’re a Stone
From navigating life
To burying our first dog
We’ve shared highs
We’ve had lows
Sometimes we had to improvise
And told each other white lies
Taking pride in all things you
You believed in me so I did to too.

When We Were Young
06:02
|
|||
I know a girl
Who makes her money on the streets
She's only seventeen
But today is the day
She decides to make a change
She takes her last, last leap
And it starts again
Mourning over The Lost Friends
To a downward spiral
And an unfortunate end
And I know a guy
Who lost the love in his heart
To a needle
His eyes close
As he injects another dose
His body grows cold
And it starts again
Mourning over The Lost Friends
To a downward spiral
And an unfortunate end
When We Were Young
Left to figure it out on our own
We broke hearts, souls & bones
Only a few will make it home
When We Were Young
We were
When We Were Young
We were
When We Were Young
We were dumb

You Take My Fear
06:22
|
|||
Im not afraid of things unknown
You shouldn’t put your whole life on hold
She left this town dressed in blue & white
I thought her stories made it seem all too right
Put your lips on the glass & start to go blind
You won’t see, you won’t see that Im perfectly fine
You Take my Fear.
And understand Dear,
That I’m not living long this way
Waking up each day too scared to say
That I love you & I always will
You Take My Fear, You Take My Fear.
Not afraid if I’m gone by seventy-five,
But that by twenty-five Ill have no drive.
She stays in her own half of Concord
Where the cold days just seem to grow longer
She doesn’t want to take life this slow
She’s been working hard on her own & damn it shows
Im not scared, Im not scared, to write you goodbye
But that Ill sign it with a gun.
